A continuation of Beginning Fiddle 1. We’ll learn how to play an Irish jig, hornpipe, and waltz or air and also some exercises to improve your playing.
Skills Needed: Having taken Beginning Fiddle 1 or having the ability to play a simple tune such as Twinkle Twinkle Little Star or Frere Jacques and play a couple of simple scales such as G major starting on the G string and D major starting on the D string.
What to Bring: Bring a fiddle, bow, shoulder rest if needed, tuner, notepad, and music stand. Manuscript handouts will be provided. Need to rent a fiddle? Try Olsen Violins (Phinney Ridge), Lasley Violins (University District), or Hammond Ashley Violins.
Teacher: Allan MacDonald is from Scotland and has played fiddle since 1978. He plays in Celtic sessions and bands in the Seattle area.
*Most classes and workshops are geared towards late-teens and adults. Younger learners will benefit most starting with private lessons.
