Jul 26: Building Strong Improvised Solos with Eric Skye
11am – 1pm
Dusty Strings 3406 Fremont Ave N
Maximum Enrollment: 16
Registration & Refund Deadline: Wednesday, July 23, 2025
A detailed discussion and demonstration on creating strong melodic improvised solos. We will use both a simple folk song, a blues, as well as a jazz standard to break down how we can use simple fat-free theory and our knowledge of the tune to come up with compelling lines that are threaded through the harmony and tethered to melody. Anyone one that wants to will get chances to take a solo.
Skills Needed: All are welcome (including instruments besides guitar), but some basic knowledge of chords and open scales would be a plus.
What to Bring: A recording device for sure. And a guitar (or other instrument) but absolutely zero pressure to play.
Teacher: Pacific Northwest acoustic guitarist Eric Skye occupies a unique niche between folk, jazz and blues, between fingerstyle and flatpicking, and between composition and improvisation. Eric has released nine albums and toured throughout the country for many years. ericskye.com
