Mar 8: The Technique & Artistry of Modern Solo Guitar with Kyran Daniel
11am – 1pm
Dusty Strings, 3406 Fremont Ave N
Wednesday, March 5, 2025
Join Tommy Emmanuel protege, Kyran Daniel, on a transformative 2hr workshop covering both the technique and artistry behind the creation and performance of contemporary solo guitar pieces. Together, you’ll look at fundamental technical approaches to the instrument, how they’ve evolved over time, and how to find your unique combination and voice amongst them. You’ll then spend the second hour being introduced to Kyran’s creative process of taking life-experience and other artistic inspirations, and finding the vocabulary on the guitar to articulate those stories and emotions. From scales, to arranging, chord-functions and dynamic articulation, you’ll leave this session with a blueprint for how to create your own body of work as an artist yourself.
Skills needed: All that is really needed is basic knowledge of the guitar and a willingness to be creative with it. Seasoned composers and players will have an efficient compositional method to use as well as additional techniques in their arsenal, but beginners can essentially begin using the same concepts in a simplified manner.
What to Bring: Guitar, Picks, Notebook
