Used Gibson F-5 (1969)
$5,295.00
A 1969 Gibson F-5 in great condition featuring a silky spruce top and a uniformly flamed maple body, setup to play comfortably with speedy low action and accurate intonation up the five-piece neck. This mandolin came out of Kalamazoo during a time when Gibson's F-5 production was limited to custom orders only, hence the Custom designation down the truss rod cover. This particular example has a sweet, satisfying tone with natural woody quality to it- on the mellower side but very pleasant. Cosmetic condition is good, with plenty of lacquer checking in the original sunburst finish. Finish wear include some very fine, faint dimples on the back and a few chips and tiny top dings around the scroll and the bass side f-hole. Frets are in good shape, with the first 5 frets showing minor string impressions beneath the plain courses only. This mandolin is crack-free and in excellent structural condition. The tailpiece and tuners are quality replacements, and the pickguard and tailpiece cover are original.
