Over the course of four weeks, you’ll learn at least three basic chords and strum patterns used throughout popular music from folk to rock. You’ll develop good practice habits and a strong foundation for playing guitar with ease so you can enjoy your instrument for years to come!

Skills needed: For the total beginner – whether you have never picked up a guitar before or just know a few simple chords!

What to bring: Please bring a working, six-string guitar, tuner, and a device for recording and/or taking video. Note that Dusty Strings cannot provide loaner instruments for this class, and students may not use instruments for sale in the store. If you do not yet have a guitar, ask about our affordable rental program! We’re also happy to guide you through the process of purchasing a guitar and finding the right one for you.

Teacher: Finding passion in music is a core component of Gregory Roberts’ teaching style. His goal is to cultivate “a strong sense of confidence and identity in students’ knowledge, abilities, and the music they love to play.” He has a patient and understanding approach that caters to the individuality of each student. Gregory enjoys writing, recording, producing, and releasing his own music. He has been performing and working as a professional multi-instrumentalist for fourteen years, with extensive experience in New York City’s music scene from which he hails.
