Mar 15: Acoustic Urban Blues with Eric Madis
11am – 1pm
Dusty Strings, 3406 Fremont Ave N
Maximum enrollment: 12
Registration & Refund Deadline: Wednesday, March 12, 2025
In early 20th century, when guitarists accompanied blues singers and were improvising single-string guitar solos, there was little difference between urban blues and jazz. Guitarists Lonnie Johnson, Eddie Lange and Scrapper Blackwell epitomized this style, which influenced the later electric styles of T.Bone Walker, Charlie Christian and BB King. This style can be done finger style, but is more commonly done with a plectrum (pick). Learn a classic blues tune, new chords and techniques for single-string soloing.
Skills needed: Some knowledge of blues music, barred chords (or jazz equivalents) will help participants in this class for intermediate and advanced guitarists.
Please bring your guitar. Please give us a call if you think your guitar might need a tune-up!
Teacher: Eric Madis is a working musician, recording artist and has taught guitar throughout the US and Canada since 1976.
