Used Martin D-18 (1962)
$6,795.00
A 1962 Martin D-18 in excellent condition, crack-free and playing optimally with a fresh neck reset, re-fret, through saddle, and pickguard replacement. This is a tremendous guitar that demonstrates everything the D-18 is capable of. With its dry, muscular low end and rich singing trebles, it has that iconic sound of countless records from folk and bluegrass to contemporary Americana, pop and beyond. Moderate finish wear on the Sitka spruce top includes scattered dings, scrapes, and scratches, with the most prominent section being a picking pattern worn through to the wood on either side of the fretboard extension. Aside from the lacquer fill in that area and the minor touchup associated with the neck reset, this guitar has its original finish intact. The mahogany back, sides, and neck are in quite clean shape, with not much wear besides general checking and shallow surface-level worming.
The neck sports a rounded-over V profile with medium shoulders and a 1-11/16" nut, and it plays buzz-free and in tune all the way up the newly re-fretted Brazilian rosewood board. The tuning machines, bridge, and bridge plate are in very good original condition and the pickguard is a modern replacement. Setup with action measuring a hair over 6/64" and 4/64" at the 12th fret beneath the low and high strings, respectively, with .007" relief in the neck and a nice tall saddle with plenty of room for future adjustment.
