This workshop covers an array of techniques and fun “brain teasers” that can be applied as arrangement tools to help develop a free-flowing style all your own. Using a couple of simple melodies in contrasting time signatures from various music traditions, we’ll explore various ways to use these tools to build arrangements and personalize our interpretations. The workshop will be taught both by ear and using sheet music.

Skills Needed: The workshop is open to players of all ages and levels of experience.

What to Bring: Please bring your harp and tuning equipment. As long as you can access the keys of C and D major, no specific tuning is necessary. All sheet music will be provided. Need a harp? Dusty Strings can provide a loaner harp for the workshop. Please call the store (206) 634-1662 at least a week beforehand as loaners are subject to availability. 

Teacher: Lily Neill has captivated audiences around the world with her original compositions and eclectic repertoire, the dynamism and breadth of her performances, and her infectious passion for the harp. Lily earned a 1st Class Honours degree in Irish Music and Dance from the University of Limerick, Ireland, and a Master of Music degree from Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland, with additional studies in Vilnius at The Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre.  She has given workshops and master-classes across the globe, and for schools such as the Royal Danish Academy of Music, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Sibelius Academy, and London's City University.
