This workshop explores the surprisingly similar sound worlds of blues and Celtic music.  Players will delve into stylistic elements of solo acoustic blues, followed by a session on ornamentation from the Celtic traditions.

Clive will provide two short, contrasting pieces in TAB form, providing useful techniques to take away with you, as well as a piece to put them into practice! 

Skills Needed: If you can play the standard first position chords and a few solo acoustic guitar pieces already, you’ll gain maximum benefit from this relaxed workshop.

What to Bring: Please bring your guitar and a video/phone camera if possible.

Teacher: Clive Carroll has given workshops and masterclasses at University of Wisconsin/Milwaukee, The Swannanoa Gathering, Aldeburgh Music's Britten-Pears Foundation, Bristol and Brighton Institutes of Modern Music, Colchester Institute, Marlborough College, Irish World Academy, Newcastle University and the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford.

Clive holds 1st Class Honours Degree from Trinity College of Music, London and was recently a featured artist/tutor within the “Acoustic Guitar” magazine cover story focusing on key workshops around the world.

*Most classes and workshops are geared towards late-teens and adults. Younger learners will benefit most starting with private lessons.
