Description

Used 2013 OME Bluegrass Celtic Knot banjo with a sunburst finish constructed of highly figured maple and featuring OME's lightweight ‘Sweetone' tone ring, in very good condition and including its original hard-shell case. OME brought this banjo to their booth at 2013 Wintergrass festival here in Seattle to showcase the prototype of their Sweetone tone ring, which was advertised as being a low-profile flathead brass ring with similar sonic properties to their Megatone and HG rings but a little quieter with a bit more sustain at a whole 2lbs lighter. Combined with a renaissance head, the result is an eminently wieldy resonator banjo with a crisp, clear tone and a charming woody character. Setup playing great with action measuring a touch under 6/64" from the 12th fret to the bottom of the D strings with .008" relief in the neck and optimal break angle over the bridge.

Much of the original solid polished brass hardware is still in place, but the gold-plated Keith tuners and the sliding Shubb 5th string capo are aftermarket additions. This is a nicely worn in banjo; cosmetic condition is still good overall with finish wear mostly comprised of worming around the back of the resonator and an area of finish rubbed away on the neck in the upper positions. Frets were lightly leveled and crowned in preparation for sale and are polished to a high shine with no signs of wear and plenty of material remaining.
