With their masterfully tuned tops, impeccable details, and elegant finishes, it's hard not to be impressed by the guitars of Roy McAlister. This particular Model C is a real stunner with a silky German spruce top and an especially beautiful set of straight-grained Amazonian rosewood for the back and sides. This is a superb sounding instrument — the sensitivity of the German spruce blends perfectly with the overtones of the Amazonian rosewood to produce an extraordinarily refined tone with a crisp, punchy low end and robust, complex trebles. It's an intoxicating guitar to play; it really pulls you in and is tough to put down. The neck sports a symmetrical oval profile, a touch on the slimmer side, with moderate shoulder and a good deal of figuring in the mahogany. Setup to play comfortably with low action measuring 6/64" and 4/64" from the 12th fret to the bottom of the low and high strings, respectively, with .005" relief in the neck.
Premium cosmetic details include full figured koa binding, flamed koa rear headstock overlay, and a custom abalone rosette that integrates the end of the fretboard extension. Overall condition is excellent, with finish wear limited to the very faintest signs of handling and telegraphing of the finish here and there. Frets are unworn and level all the way up the ebony board. Wired for a Dimarzio Black Angel soundhole pickup that is included in the case.
