Description

1969 Martin D-35 featuring a Sitka spruce top and Brazilian rosewood back and sides in excellent, crack-free condition including its original molded plastic hard case. A well-kept example of this model with a clear, lively voice courtesy of its lighter 1/4" bracing and Brazilian rosewood construction. The rosewood here is void-free and fairly straight-grained, particularly nice for late-era Brazilian, with the outside segments of the three-piece back displaying symmetrical bookmatching. A recent neck set performed by Mike Lull's Guitar Works has this dread playing great with action measuring 7/64" and 5/64" from the 12th fret to the bottom of the low and high strings, respectively, with .006" relief in the neck and medium gauge strings. Cosmetic wear includes general finish scratches, dings, worming, and checking throughout, and a line of minor scuffs down the center of the neck, nothing through the original lacquer and all in accordance with a used guitar of its age. The original rosewood bridge plate has been patched and a small piece of binding has been spliced in at the bass-side corner of the fretboard extension. Frets are a bit on the low side, but level, nicely crowned, and playing cleanly all the way up the board with no buzz. The only wear in the fretwire is some minor flattening beneath the plain strings in the first three positions only. Original hard case is in fair condition; it closes and will get the job done, but it's a bit warped over the years and not all latches line up properly. New dreadnought hard cases available for purchase, if desired.
