Description
With a serial number indicating a build date of February 1984, this A5-2 would be among the earliest of the carved-top mandolins Flatiron produced in their Montana workshop under the direction of the esteemed Steve Carlson, whose signature appears on the label. They certainly had their hands on some incredible maple in those days, with the set chosen for this mandolin featuring spectacular figuring brought out nicely by the gloss lacquer and full sunburst finish. Cosmetic condition is excellent, especially considering its age, with playwear limited to a few shallow finish scuffs on the top and not much else to speak off. Freshly re-fretted with its fretboard trued up by the Dusty Strings expert repair team, this mandolin is setup to play beautifully for decades to come. Includes hard-shell case.
