This workshop is all about having fun while we learn the fundamentals of what it takes to play guitar. We will use fun games and exercises to help us with the hard parts: like how to coordinate the right and left hand, change chords smoothly, have good pick control, and more. When playing is fun, it turns into something you want to do and not just a have-to-do. You don’t have to be an amazing musician to learn guitar. All you need is time, curiosity, and fun!

Skills Needed: This workshop is for beginners and intermediate players. Having some guitar knowledge and experience will help you in this class. But if you don’t have any experience, I will make sure you get started on the right path and still be able to hang with the more seasoned players. The main goal is to come together and just play music.

What to Bring: Please bring a working, six-string guitar. Need to rent a guitar? Dusty Strings has an affordable rental program. Please call (206) 634-1662 or come to the shop between 10:30am – 6pm at least a week before the first class as rentals are subject to availability.

Teacher: My name is Jonny Akamu. I have been teaching guitar for almost 20 years in the Seattle area and have taught hundreds of students how to have fun learning guitar.

*Most classes and workshops are geared towards late-teens and adults. Younger learners will benefit most starting with private lessons.
