Gather around and dig into five beloved Beatles songs built for exactly this — playing and singing together. We'll focus on the open, approachable side of the Beatles catalog: songs with singable melodies, friendly chord shapes, and those unmistakable hooks that get everyone in the circle joining in.
Whether you grew up on these records or are coming to them fresh, this workshop is about making music together. We'll work on rhythm guitar, basic song structures, and singing along — no prior Beatles experience required. Chord sheets and tab will be provided ahead of class for those who like to come prepared.
Songs will include: “Let It Be,” “Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da,” “With a Little Help from My Friends,” “Norwegian Wood,” “Eleanor Rigby”
Skills Needed: Comfortable with open position chords such as G, C, D, Am, Em
What to Bring: Guitar, tuner, and capo
Teacher: Chris Haugen is a nationally recognized guitarist and multi-instrumentalist. With years of experience recording and performing popular and folk styles, Chris helps beginner to advanced guitarists build skills on guitar, slide guitar, lap steel, Weissenborn, and more.
As a teacher, Chris encourages students to learn the music they want to play. "Music is a lifetime of learning and enjoyment, self-expression, and imagination," he says. "It's jamming with friends, time to unwind, and beach bonfires." Chris is equally at home working with both acoustic and electric guitar students.
Chris's recent release "Lakeside Sessions", recorded in his studio on Lake Washington, has over 1.2M streams and was selected FYC 2024 Grammy awards. From Classic Rock to Khruangbin, Beatles to Beck, Grateful Dead to Radiohead, Chris draws from a deep wellspring of inspiration.
*Most classes and workshops are geared towards late-teens and adults. Younger learners will benefit most starting with private lessons.
