Italian virtuoso guitarist, Alberto Lombardi, will lead you in dissecting some of his arrangements like Yesterday, Isn’t She Lovely, or Volare and will guide you to make your own, finding your unique voice on the instrument. The second part of the workshop will focus on guitar soloing and improvisation. Alberto has developed a unique approach to fretboard knowledge that combines all diatonic scales in a unified 5-shapes-only system. This simplifies improvisation greatly, freeing creativity from not knowing where the notes are, or knowing too many scale shapes and getting lost.
Skills Needed: All levels welcomed! Have at least a minimal knowledge of basic chords and scales (even simple pentatonics).
What to Bring: Guitar and notebook. Devices for recording the workshop are also welcome.
Teacher: Defined “Italian Fingerstyle Master” by Acoustic Guitar Magazine, Alberto Lombardi is an eclectic guitar virtuoso. As a solo acoustic/electric player Alberto has played major festivals in Europe and USA and toured with some of the most influential acoustic guitarists of our times, like Tommy Emmanuel, Peter Finger, Muriel Anderson, and Tim Sparks. As a teacher Alberto has released four instructional videos with Stefan Grossman’s Guitar Videos label, teaching some of his most popular arrangements and some creative guitar technique. His acoustic solo arrangements are very personal, derived from the different musical experiences he has in rock, jazz, country, and pop as a session player. He digs into complex arrangements of Italian and American classics, translating them on the guitar, picking up clever harmonic movements from those great arrangers and composers and making them his own on the six-string.
*Most classes and workshops are geared towards late-teens and adults. Younger learners will benefit most starting with private lessons.
