Learn the basics of the Bluegrass Banjo! In this course we will start from the beginning and cover the mechanics of the resonator 5 string banjo - from tuning, proper left- and right-hand technique, basic rolls, and reading tab. We will also cover the history, as it’s important to know the roots of the music.

Skills Needed: No experience necessary!

What to Bring: A banjo, tuner, and note pad. Need to rent a banjo? Dusty Strings has an affordable rental program. Please call (206) 634-1662 or come to the shop between 10:30am – 6pm as rentals are subject to availability.

Teacher: Dan Monte Calvo has played banjo since 1978. He’s traveled and played with many bands in the Seattle area and Europe.

*Most classes and workshops are geared towards late-teens and adults. Younger learners will benefit most starting with private lessons.
