Description
Ivan Guernsey retired from building his highly-prized resonator guitars in 2012, but not before he delivered instruments to the likes of Jerry Douglas, Vince Gill, and Mike Auldridge. Just a few minutes sitting with this particular squareneck and it's easy to see why Guernsey dobros have been in the hands of just about every legend of the instrument through the years. This Model 690 was built in 2007 and features traditional laminate birch construction, a mahogany neck, and a spider bridge. It sounds sweet as can be, with bold, polished high end and clean, articulate bass — very intentionally voiced and impeccably balanced. This guitar has been played, but overall condition remains excellent, with finish wear limited to a small circular chip on the upper bass side and general light playwear throughout, including shallow worming and faint scratches around the body, back of the neck, and the headstock overlay. Includes a nice polyfoam Travelite case in great condition.
