Description

Used 1969 Martin D-35 featuring a Sitka spruce top and Brazilian rosewood back and sides in excellent original condition, equipped with a K&K Pure Mini pickup and including a hardshell case. A well-kept example of this model with a seasoned, lively voice courtesy of its lighter 1/4" bracing and Brazilian rosewood construction. The rosewood here is uniformly colored and straight-grained — particularly nice for late-era Brazilian — with the outside segments of the three-piece back displaying symmetrical bookmatching. A recent neck set has this guitar playing great with action measuring 6/64" and 5/64" from the 12th fret to the bottom of the low and high strings, respectively, with .006" relief in the neck and optimal saddle exposure above the surface of the ebony bridge.

Cosmetic wear includes general pick scratches on and around the pickguard and scattered dings and finish checks around the top, all shallow with nothing through the clearcoat. The back, sides, and back of the neck are remarkably clean for its age. The original rosewood bridge plate is in great shape showing minimal signs of wear. The fingerboard binding is repaired in a few places and a small crack in the treble side lower bout, less than an inch long, has been professionally glued and cleated with minor touch up. Frets are level, nicely crowned, and playing cleanly all the way up the board with no buzz. The first few frets show minor flattening beneath the plain strings only; there's plenty of life in them yet.
