Description

Vintage 1966 Martin 0-18 with all original parts and finish hot off the bench with a fresh neck reset in overall excellent condition and including a chipboard case. A wonderful sounding compact guitar with a big voice brimming with the classic, seasoned tones natural to the best old mahogany Martins. It may be small, but it's mighty enough to project like a much larger guitar. The mahogany neck is a solid handful sporting a comfortable rounded-over V profile with moderate shoulders. The neck set was expertly done and the angle is spot-on, with action measuring 6/64" and 4/64" from the 12th fret to the bottom of the low and high strings, respectively, with .006" relief in the neck and proper saddle exposure over the surface of the Brazilian rosewood bridge. This is a single-owner instrument and has been well-kept through the decades, showing surprisingly little wear in the original lacquer as a result. There are some shallow surface scratches here and there, but overall cosmetic condition is remarkably clean, espeically for its age. One small split at the back bass-side bout has been professionally glued and cleated; it is otherwise crack-free and still retains the original pickguard. Includes the lightweight chipboard case originally sold with the guitar.
