Description
Vintage 1966 Gibson RB-100 resonator banjo featuring all original parts and hardware in surprisingly clean cosmetic condition and including a hard-shell case. A lovely sounding, lightweight vintage workhorse with its original sunburst as vibrant as the day it left the factory in Kalamazoo 60 some years ago. As well-kept as this banjo is, it has certainly been played, as is evidenced by some shallow fretboard wear and a non-original set of frets, and it has a taken on a seasoned woody quality to its voice as a result. Volume and projection are provided by a rolled brass tone ring, a recent frosted head, and a maple resonator. Setup to play great with action measuring 6/64" from the 12th fret to the bottom of the outside D strings with .006" relief in the neck and proper break angle over the bridge. The original tuning machines are functioning properly, including the friction 5th string peg which holds a tune remarkably well
