Description
One of a limited run of 30 close replicas of Bryan Sutton's personal 1995 Bourgeois slope shoulder dreadnought, dubbed "Banjo Killer" after its clear, powerful voice and high headroom. Notable construction details include a double-scalloped X-bracing pattern, slightly overstiff back bracing, and a full 25.5" scale length. Tonewoods are all top-notch, with both the bearclaw Sitka spruce top and the mahogany body featuring spectacular figuring, and the Brazilian rosewood fretboard and bridge displaying straight grain, rich with shades of brown and red. Banjo Killer is an apt nickname for this instrument– it's loud and bold with tons of articulation and even string balance. You can really hammer on it without hitting the ceiling, but the heavily scalloped bracing allows for the top to get moving plenty with the lighter touch of the fingers. In excellent+ condition with almost no evidence of playwear in the finish. Frets were lightly leveled in preparation for sale and show no signs of wear with plenty of height remaining.
