Description

Flatiron A-5 Artist, made in Montana in 1994 and signed by Bruce Weber in excellent condition and including a gig bag. A very sweet sounding A-style, rich with overtones while retaining the classic percussive chop of a great f-hole mandolin. The maple body and neck feature some beautifully tight flame, and the all-over sunburst is superbly well-done and unfaded. Cosmetic wear is in accordance with light use for an instrument of its age, with some general shallow worming and surface scratching throughout, some minor marks in the finish on the treble side of the fretboard extension, and a patch of scuffed finish on the back of the neck near the headstock. Fretwire is 95%+ beneath the second course on the first five positions and unworn elsewhere up and across the ebony board. Setup with comfortable action at 5/64" and 4/64" from the 12th fret to the bottom of the low and high strings, respectively, with a straight neck and plenty of room on the thumbwheels for future adjustment.
