Guitar, Voice, Piano, Ukulele, and Songwriting

I studied World Arts and Cultures at UCLA with a focus on Arts Activism, performance, and teaching. I have taught and performed music in Seattle for nine years and focus on positive development and unique experiences that facilitate joy.

“It felt like a milestone...”

When were you first introduced to music and what got you “hooked”?

I have always enjoyed singing and writing, and I was first introduced to music and dance at UCLA. I was hooked by music's ability to shift energy and inspire people.

What is one of your most memorable experiences as a performer?

Playing at the KEXP Gathering Space. KEXP is a special place for me - I developed a lot as a musician in their workshops, going to live broadcasts, sneaking into the sound booth, and meeting artists I admire. It was memorable, because of the community environment and it was a showcase of artists of color in Seattle, so there were paintings and creations from all types of people from the city. It felt like a milestone, even though it was not my best performance, I felt like it was a stepping stone towards where I’m going.

Do you have any good practice tips for music students or musicians in general?

Music, like reading, requires focus, and sometimes you will be tired or you will struggle to focus. It is important not to get discouraged when you do not perform perfectly.
