We are excited to present a special guest workshop with internationally recognized ukulele artist Feng E, whose innovative approach is redefining what this instrument can do. This session offers a completely new way to approach the ukulele. Moving beyond traditional strumming, Feng E demonstrates how the instrument can function as a dynamic, multi-layered musical experience—combining melody, rhythm, and percussion all at once.
Through a combination of performance and guided instruction, students will be introduced to:
- Creative approaches to rhythm and percussive playing
- Fingerstyle techniques adapted from contemporary guitar styles
- Ways to combine melody, harmony, and groove simultaneously
- The fundamentals of improvisation and personal expression
Skills Needed: This workshop is designed to be inclusive and engaging for all experience levels:
- Students with little or no background will gain exposure, inspiration, and simple entry points into music-making
- Developing players will expand their technical and creative toolkit
- Advanced students will be challenged with new concepts in arrangement and percussive technique
Even people who do not play an instrument will find the experience engaging and inspiring!
