Sprightly strathspeys, roaring reels, joyful jigs, and wistful waltzes - Scottish music truly shines on the harp. Join renowned harpist Rachel Hair as she guides you through some much-loved tunes from the tradition, exploring both melody and left-hand accompaniment, while sharing the stories and history behind the music.

Skills Needed: Elementary harp level and above, with knowledge of notes and able to add in simple left hand. 

What to Bring: Please bring your harp. Need a harp? Dusty Strings can provide a loaner harp for the workshop. Please call the store (206) 634-1662 at least a week beforehand as loaners are subject to availability. Rachel teaches by ear and can also provide sheet music for those who wish to use it. You can also bring a smartphone/recording device.

Teacher: Rachel Hair is internationally recognized as one of the leading teachers of the Scottish harp. Based in Glasgow, she has taught at festivals across Europe, North America, Australia, New Zealand and Japan. Rachel has published seven acclaimed books of harp music, with her arrangements played by harpists worldwide. A passionate and experienced educator, she was nominated for Tutor of the Year at the BBC Alba Scots Trad Music. She is known for her passionate but clear and supportive teaching style.

*Most classes and workshops are geared towards late-teens and adults. Younger learners will benefit most starting with private lessons.
