Are you plagued with ukulele ennui - all songs sounding the same? You’ve mastered the basics, now let’s have some FUN. We’ll go beyond “Down Down” (DD) and “Down Up” (DU) strum styles into textured plucking and finger play, suitable for casual singalongs and stage performance. We’ll work at an easy pace through songs in 3/4 and 4/4 time, applying multiple patterns to build your skillset, including strum changes within same song.
Skills Needed: Intermediate beginner (very basic chord reading and playing skills). The ability to tune your instrument GCEA (or *baritone DGBE) and the ability to play through a 3-5 chord song. Singing helps but not required!
What to Bring: A working tuned ukulele (any size soprano through baritone) and tuner. *Please note if you play baritone ukulele when registering.
Teacher: A late-blooming musician, jean discovered guitar at the age of thirty-five. Instantly smitten with the feel of playing music, she taught herself basic guitar chords, eventually writing and performing songs at cafes and songwriter showcases around Seattle. Later came touring, adding ukulele and harmonica to her cache of beloved instruments.
