Maximum Enrollment: 16
Registration & Refund Deadline: Wednesday, February 25, 2026
Learn a flatpicking fiddle tune or two on the guitar. We’ll learn how to learn a tune quickly, completely by ear. We’ll level up our alternating picking technique, and pull a big tone out of our guitar. We’ll get into the art of accompaniment with an emphasis on groove, listening and supporting each other. And discuss how we can take a solo in this style that is anchored to the melody.
Skills Needed: All are welcome, but some basic knowledge of chords and open scales would be a plus.
What to Bring: Bring a recording device for sure. And bring a guitar (or maybe a mandolin) of course.
Teacher: Pacific Northwest acoustic guitarist Eric Skye occupies a unique niche between folk, jazz and blues, between fingerstyle and flatpicking, and between composition and improvisation. Eric has released nine albums and toured throughout the country for many years.
“One of the purest, most musical flatpickers of the 21st Century” - Bluegrass Unlimited
“A perfect synthesis of eclectic influences” - Acoustic Guitar
“An uncanny ability to make the familiar sound new, and the new sound familiar" - Fretboard Journal
