For players with some experience, or who have completed Beginning Mandolin 1, looking to grow from sit-at-home skills to playing with other instruments or in ensembles. Tackle more advanced chord voicings and positions, apply tremolos more broadly, and build some scale patterns for playing leads in a variety of styles that highlight the instrument's versatility. Develop an effective and reliable toolkit to add color to others' songs—or accompany your own! Students should have their own instruments and a pick (plectrum); a strap and electronic tuner are helpful; recording devices welcome.

Teacher: For the past 25 years, Wes Weddell has worked multiple shifts in the engine room of Seattle’s roots music scene, keeping his hand in abundant projects as frontman, sideman, writer, teacher, and community-builder. In 2010, Weddell began working with The Bushwick Book Club Seattle, an expanding non-profit collective of songwriters who each compose new music inspired by literature to share in monthly showcases focused around specific books. He is now the organization’s Associate Director. Along the way he has continued to teach a variety of instruments and styles across generations, helping hundreds find the joy of playing and singing with others.
