Description

A 1959 Martin 000-18 freshly serviced with a neck reset and complete re-fret in very good vintage condition and including a hard-shell case. This guitar is dialed-in and playing great, with action measuring a touch above 6/64" and 4/64" from the 12th fret to the bottom of the low and high strings, respectively, with a straight neck and plenty of saddle exposure above the surface of its newly-made replacement Brazilian rosewood bridge. A great sounding instrument with the dry woody midrange and deep resonance of the best old mahogany Martins. The medium mahogany neck sports a soft V profile with moderate shoulders tapering down to a rounded-over spine - a comfortable handful with a pleasant worn-in feel.

Cosmetic condition is good, with finish repairs including a touch-up on the lower bass bout where the right arm crosses over and a lacquer filled patch of heavy playwear on the treble side of the fingerboard extension. Wear includes a few circular spots through the finish on the treble side, general checking, scrapes, dings, worming and buckle rash throughout, and a name etched into the finish on the back of the headstock. The pickguard and tuners are original. A top crack along the inside of the pickguard has been repaired and is fully stable. The bridge plate is in excellent shape and shows very little evidence of wear.
