Description

A lovely F-style oval hole mandolin from the Lloyd Loar era — the golden age of Gibson's mandolin production — featuring some stunning figured maple. This mandolin has had an expert headstock repair, purportedly done at the Gibson factory, and two crack repairs. The mahogany neck has the comfortable chunky v-profile common to the era of Gibson mandolins, and it plays great all the way up the board. Sound is phenomenal — rich and woody with plenty of low end and nice sustain. The pickguard is issing, tuners are replacements, and the bridge appears to be period-correct; the tailpiece is original.
