Used Cohen C# Mandolin
$3,495.00
Crafted in 2010 by Dr. David Cohen in Richmond, VA. Dr. Cohen’s is a retired college professor who since retirement has devoted his intellectual talent to the study of sound propagated by mandolins and other stringed instruments and he has published several papers describing his acoustic research. While his mathematical treatise of wave propagation and sound theory are great for academics and the like, he also builds a unique line of mandolins with modern touches while keeping the classic shape and woody tone.
This C# mandolin is made with beautifully straight grained redwood on top and European maple back, sides, and neck. There is an elegant burst finish all around. It features his siganture C holes on the top and miniture X bracing pattern. The fretboard, pickguard, tail inlay, tailpiece cover, and headplate are African ebony. The binding is rosewood/maple/rosewood/curly maple from inside to outside. The fretboard markers are green abalone with ebony side dots. The tuners are Schaller MNI4 with Waverly ebony buttons.
The scale length is 14" and the nut width is 1 1/8".
The tone is wonderful- woody, deep, bright, and clear. A fantastic mandolin that will stand out in a crowd and fill a room.
Includes a TKL hardshell case.
