11:00 AM – 12:00 PM Time change: 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM
Dusty Strings, 3406 Fremont Ave N
Maximum Enrollment: 16
Registration & Refund Deadline: Wednesday, September 25
Keep learning chords, rhythms, and strumming patterns as you continue adding new songs to your repertoire! After reviewing some basics and strumming, you’ll start learning fingerpicking, i.e., plucking out melodies with your right-hand as you play chords with your left. You’ll also begin working with TAB (tablature), an easy-to-learn system for knowing where to put your fingers. Song suggestions welcome!
Skills Needed: This class assumes you can strum and play the C, F, and G7 chords or have taken Beginning Ukulele 1 with any of our teachers.
What to Bring: You will need to bring your own working soprano, concert, or tenor ukulele. We also recommend a tuner, a strap to help you hold the uke for long periods, and a portable music stand to keep music at eye-level for practicing. These accessories can be purchased at Dusty Strings. You can also bring your smartphone/audio recording device. PDF handouts provided.
Teacher: Birch has built a strong reputation in the Pacific Northwest as a versatile musician, composer, arranger, and producer. As a bassist and singer, he leads the Americana, jazz, and blues band Birch Pereira and the Gin Joints. An avid ukulele enthusiast, he teaches group ukulele classes at Dusty Strings and makes videos and arrangements for concert and baritone ukulele and u-bass.
