Used Fender Precision Bass (1973)
$3,195.00
A real vintage treasure brimming with classic Fender tones, this 1973 Precision Bass has weathered the past half-century beautifully. Its nicely figured one-piece maple neck and three-tone sunburst alder body combine to a slight 8lb 5oz, making for a very lightweight bass, uncommon for a 70s Fender. The stamp dates the neck to the 47th week of 1972, while the original CTS pots bear codes from 1973, suggesting that final assembly of this bass was completed in early 1973. All parts and hardware are original apart from the pickguard, which is a modern replacement. The original pickguard will be included with the sale. A previous owner had modified the neck pocket with some slightly haphazard sanding that compromised the original date markings on the body side of the pocket. Our expert repair ream has reversed that modification with some careful leveling, resulting is a very clean, tight-fitting pocket with an optimal neck angle. That repair is completely under the hood and only visible with the neck off the body.
