For the total beginner! Over the course of five weeks, you’ll learn at least three basic chords and strum patterns used throughout popular music. You’ll develop good practice habits and a strong foundation for playing guitar with ease so you can enjoy your instrument for years to come! We’ll explore popular songs from the 20th century from folk to rock.

Please bring a working guitar (rentals available through Dusty Strings), tuner, and a device for recording and/or taking video. You’ll receive PDF handouts and chord charts for practice.

Jonathan Shue is the Education Director for Dusty Strings and has performed and taught music and drama throughout the West Coast for more than twenty years. As a teacher, he specializes in helping students realize their musical potential, whether they are a total beginner or a seasoned pro. He believes everyone can sing and play an instrument and that it’s never too late to learn.
