May 13: Acoustic Urban Blues with Eric Madis (In-Person)
In the early 20th century, guitarists were accompanying and improvising single-string guitar solos, and there was no dividing line between urban blues and jazz. Guitarists Lonnie Johnson and Scrapper Blackwell epitomized this new urban blues, foreshadowing the emergence of electric players like T. Bone Walker and BB King. This style can be done finger style, but more efficiently with a plectrum (pick). Learn a classic blues tune, new chords and the techniques of single-string soloing. For intermediate and advanced guitarists.
