Learn to access the most authentic voice there is -- your own. Release tension and open your vocal channel through special stretches and exercises designed to connect your breath and voice. Learn fun songs and speech articulation drills each week and walk out feeling refreshed and singing! This is a continuing class rather than sequential; new students and continuing students learn something new each week. Please wear clothes you are comfortable moving and stretching in. For all levels.

Enjoy singing popular folk tunes and spirituals with others while using those tunes to develop your ear and ability to harmonize, blend your voice, and sing a solo. Work from and learn how to use the book, Rise Up Singing, to expand your repertoire and ability to quickly learn almost any tune. Learn how to take care of your voice with easy stretches and warm ups. Please bring the book Rise Up Singing by Peter Blood and Annie Patterson (available for purchase at Dusty Strings) and a recording device. For this class, the ability to read music is not required.

VoiceWurks! Songwriter's Edition

This guided group singing class was created with singer-songwriters in mind. Part exploration and part master class, it emphasizes ease and happiness as you learn what's needed to produce your best possible sound. Confidently connect with your voice through structural and tonal exercises and ear training, and by learning about the physical components of singing. In the second half of class, play through songs you're working on and receive a gentle critique from Debby with constructive ideas of what to work on next. Singers of all levels welcome. Whether you sing for enjoyment or have a particular goal in mind, learn to create beautiful melodies, harmonies, and motifs, and catapult your singing from good to great!
