Looking for the confidence and chops to accompany songs or join a jam playing mandolin? In this class for complete beginners, we'll start with chord-playing and work up to simple melodies with an approach that layers skills over example songs. We'll work with strum-patterns, tremolos, and double-picking, and address techniques for both hands. You'll emerge a capable mandolinist who can add parts to songs and pick with friends in a variety of styles!

For players with some experience (or who have just completed Beginning Mandolin 1) looking to grow from sit-at-home skills to playing with other instruments or in ensembles. We'll tackle more advanced chord voicings and positions, apply tremolos more broadly, and build scale patterns for use playing leads in a variety of styles that highlight the instrument's versatility. You will develop a versatile and reliable toolkit, becoming a capable mandolin side(wo)man who can add attractive layers and colors to others' songs and accompany your own!
